To become great in life, you must be humble and grateful to your elders, and those who are of help to you.
“In the same way you younger people must submit to your elders. And all of you must put on the apron of humility, to serve one another; for the scripture says, “God resists the proud, but shows favour to the humble.” Humble yourselves, then, under God’s mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time” (1 Peter 5:5-6 GNB).
One day, the disciples of Jesus asked Him a question that had caused a little squabble amongst them: “Who is the greatest in God’s Kingdom?” To answer them, Jesus called a little child, sat him down in their midst, and said, “The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is the one who humbles himself and become like this child” (Matthew 18:4 GNB). Contrary to what many people think in today’s world, humility and gratitude are very important attitudes that prepare you for a life of greatness.
The Bible says God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud. In other words, humility comes before greatness, and that’s why most great men and women are humble. If you want to be great in life, you must learn to be humble and grateful. These are two attitudes for greatness in life.
Great men know how to say, “Thank you” for anything you do for them, regardless of how trivial it may seem. On the other hand, some others are brash and ungrateful; they find it difficult to be thankful for anything. Choose to be great; learn to appreciate people and be more humble. The more grateful and humble you are, the greater you actually become. Humble yourself and God will promote you. Humility and gratitude are your ladders to a great future in God.
