Believers, despite the truck load of promises and grace they have in God by Christ, are still, sometimes, severely tested by varying temptations.
The struggle with sin can be intense at times, even for the very spiritual. I’ve heard of persons, sincere believers, who have endured a long struggle with different habits. For some, immorality, whether in the form of constant lustful thoughts, pornography, masturbation or actual fornication, has become a bridge they seemingly can’t cross.
It’s common for believers to quietly struggle alone, concealing their moral difficulties, out of shame or for fear of rejection. So, many suffer on in silence, many times hopelessly resigning to their fate. This is why I’ve undertaken to bring this up.
First off, a holy life is not enforced by muscle and effort. In the Old Testament, Jews employed all manner of work-based schemes to try to restrain the rebellious flesh. These schemes didn’t work then and won’t now, so let’s ‘litter’ them, leave them, I mean. So, how does a believer put his/her flesh under and achieve a life of purity?
I’ll start by saying that people haven’t fully appreciated the power and implications of faith. Faith saved us from sin, it can also, most certainly, keep us from it! Think of it, if faith saved you from the dominion of darkness, can’t it save you from the control of habits? It sure can, thank God! So, faith is the way to go.
By faith, I mean, believe all that God’s word has said about you-
“Sin shall not have dominion over you”; “You’ve been delivered from the dominion of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of His marvellous Son”;
“He that the Son has set free is free indeed”; “It is for freedom that Christ set us free”; and all other scriptures that assure us of our freedom and victory over sin. Gather these, meditate on them, speak them continuously, pray them and, instead of asking God to free you from the habit, thank Him, in agreement with these scriptures, that He’s done it already. Hallelujah!
This is faith and it unlocks the power of the word, enabling you to experience it. That’s what authentic faith does, it delivers the power to you! Don’t also forget that faith is a fight, many times. Be ready to fight the flesh and the devil every inch of the way, therefore. By fight, I don’t just mean a recourse to self will but a refusal to quit on the Word, no matter how you feel. Stay with the Word, think it, say it, pray it and act in its direction. Amen! That’s how Jesus fought and won His own struggle at Gethsemane, remember? So, fight!
*The secret of the real Christian is to learn how to live the supernatural life here. Many are born again but don’t know how to live this life and that is why they are subject to circumstances.
• 1JOHN 5:4 – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
When you speak God’s Word, you overcome the world because you are born of God. The results you will have in life depend on your consciousness of who you are.
Your constant fixation on His word, by the way, is also a purifying agent that acts to consecrate your mind and increase your capacity to resist the devil. So, the FAITH way is the way to go. I just shared that way with you, walk in it and be blessed doing it. Peace.

THANK YOU @Lizacmusic
Nice topic and wonderful solution from the word that you preferred.
I’ll also like to add that walking with the holy spirit as well is key to living a victorious Christian life. Most Christians don’t recognise the ministry of the holy ghost in their life’s, that’s the reason for the struggles. The moment that you recognise the indwelling of the spirit in you and that he is in your to help break limitations in your walk with him, and yield to him through the word, your victory is sure.
